Glade Homeopathy - About Appointments

First appointments take approximately 1-1 ½ hrs which allows enough time to take a full medical history and to get clear details of all health complaints that you particularly want to address. I am interested in all areas of your *health, the physical, mental and emotional elements which combine to create your individual picture of health (injury or disease). Remedies are prescribed at the end of the appointment so that you can start taking your prescription straight away. Occasionally, I will need to order a particular remedy/strength to suit you and I will forward your prescription on as soon as I have received it. You will be asked to keep notes whilst taking the remedies so that we can accurately record your progress and improvement. Where appropriate, and with your permission, I may photograph the problem area for reference, so that we can chart the changes e.g.psoriasis and eczema.

* If you feel uncomfortable talking about yourself we can work round that. Just let me know at the beginning of the consultation that you would like a first aid style consultation and we will stick to the nuts and bolts of your injury/illness.

Follow up appointments take ½ hr – 45mins and will be booked according to the nature of your complaint. For instance, if you have consulted me with persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, menstrual bleeding, headaches etc. I will expect you to phone me with an update after 3 days and the follow up appointment will take place 10 days later because these conditions require a prompt resolution, they are acute complaints. Conditions like ADHD, autism, hormone/fertility problems, alopecia, depression, cancer and diabetes it may be more appropriate to see every 4-6 weeks. It really does depend on the urgency and complexity of the case e.g. cancer patients often need more support during the chemotherapy stage of their treatment where as post-operative patients may require several treatments in a short space of time to aid healing and recovery and arthritis sufferers may check in every 3 months for a new prescription. You will be discharged as soon as practically possible and you will be welcome to return in the future should the need arise.

First Aid appointments take approximately 45 minutes and deal only with a particular injury e.g. black eye, sprained joint, strained muscle, bruising, torn ligament/muscle, nose bleed, cuts and grazes, minor burns (smaller than the palm of the patient’s hand, anything larger than this should be seen by a triage nurse at A&E), stings and shock. These tend to be one off appointments with a course of remedies to take away so that you can heal at home.

Childhood Illnesses: These appointments are for parents nursing a sick child through a common childhood disease such as chicken pox, slap cheek (fifth disease), measles, hand foot and mouth, impetigo, mumps, tonsillitis, whooping cough, scarlet fever, bronchitis and general fever. I will do my best to fit in any patient on the same day who is suffering with one of these diseases (or similar) to ease their discomfort and speed recovery. Nursing a loved one can feel daunting because we feel distressed seeing them in pain and fear for their safety. I appreciate the urgency experienced in these situations and will provide you with support and reassurance needed.

Telephone consultations: From time to time I carry out consultations via the telephone, although this has its limitations, for some busy people it is the only way of making their follow up appointment. Telephone consultations are typically 20 minutes long and the remedy is despatched the same day along with an invoice. Payment terms are 7 days from date of invoice.
